Who gets final paycheck of a deceased employee in CA w/ NO surviving spouse but has minor & adult child?

Does the dependents need to complete the Affidavit to Collect Compensation of Deceased? However, I think this is only for the surviving spouse. The check is made payable to the "Estate of..."
