Look for a hotel near Lancaster Gate tube, you can get the Heathrow Express in from the airport to Paddington (a few blocks away). Its easy to walk across the park to the Museums that you mention, and its easy to get the tube, or a bus into the West End from there. There are also a number of great local pubs and places to eat nearby.
