English termionology! what is the word for a story inside of a story?

in english theres a word i need to use for a story inside of a story, i.e. in the great gatsby it is NICKS story of gatsby but jordan then takes over and tells the story of how she met daisy...what is the word for this! even my english teacher cant remember!
